Tekkenteppe Bidjar 8'2 x 10'11

A beautiful example of an Afshar Bijar. P.R.J. Ford in "Oriental Carpet Design writes, "The finest Bijars, as it happens, are woven not by Kurds but by a small clan of Afshars who live to the north of Bijar around Tekab and Tekkenteppe. What excites us about the best Bijar carpets is that this originality is coupled with the highest technical quality….they are seen again and again in prime positions in oriental carpet exhibitions because they combine all the qualities that we prize in this field of art: practically indestructible construction, magnificent colors, fine weave and unpredictable and deeply expressive independence of design.

The Tekkenteppe Bidjar carpets are extremely rare to find. Collectors fortunate enough to own them hold them close due to their scarcity and originality.

Persian Bidgeneh 4'5 x 6'8

P.R.J. Ford writes, “Bidgeneh is a village southwest of Zanjan , near Qoltuq, which specializes in fine, Bijar type designs in a double wefted construction. The weave can be very fine and the structure very tight, giving an outstanding result. The small output of this village is made almost entirely in dozer design.”

The pile of this Bidgeneh has been hand-knotted from high-quality virgin wool which is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. The weft and warp threads are made of cotton.

4’5 x 6’8. Circa 1950. Excellent condition. Rare.

A wonderful example of a hand knotted "pushti" or mat woven in the Bidjar area. This mat exemplifies the originality and authenticity of the weaver's imagination.
